My personal mantra: Continuous learning, solutions-focused collaboration, and authentic connection is what it’s all about! After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a BA in English and Ethics, I explored several prospective careers, working in non-profit programming, in hospitality, in youth care work, and in landscape design. The learner in me loved acquiring and honing new skills in each of these roles, but none of these jobs felt like a forever choice.
Fast forward to 2013 where reflecting on the diversity of my professional experiences led me to my personal “Aha!” moment during a conversation with my mentor. I realized that my favourite part of all those jobs was the same – the people part. I was fascinated by the process of helping identify and resolve the people-based pain points I had encountered in each industry I’d worked in. Helping support and develop positive employer-employee relationships had been an organic focus in each of my professional roles, so a career in HR was a natural fit!
Since joining the Engaged HR team in 2015 and completing an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management, I have been fortunate to enjoy constant opportunities to collaborate with and learn from amazing colleagues, employers, and community leaders, and am always looking for creative ways to grow my HR toolbox.
When I’m not working, I can be found practicing yoga, running, folding origami, perfecting latte art techniques, or spoiling my 13 nieces and nephews.
