I started my career in Human Resources (HR) after finishing my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at the University of Victoria in 2012. I was offered an HR internship in Seattle for a non-profit that supports youth in foster-care which quickly developed into the opportunity to become an HR professional. The field of HR became a perfect fit for my love of helping people.
I’ve spent the last 10 years working as an HR generalist in non-profit and government settings most recently as an HR Manager for the City of Seattle. I am skilled in a variety of HR functions including employee and labour relations issues, performance management, leave management and organizational development. My passion for learning led me to serve in a volunteer role as the Communications Director and President Elect for the Seattle Society for Human Resource Management Chapter and to pursue achieving both US and Canadian HR certifications (CPHR, SHRM-CP). After 10 years away from my Canadian friends and family, I am grateful to be living with my husband and daughter in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island working as a People and Culture Partner for Engaged HR.
