Lyndsey Nelson

With a genuine interest in learning about people and understanding an individual’s perspective based on their personal experiences, I thrive on quality connections and building meaningful relationships. I believe that when employees know how their role fits in the bigger picture of an organization and feel connected to the organizations values and mission, anything is possible!

With over 9 years of experience in Human Resources, I have been fortunate to work in both public and private organizations. As the first employee of Engaged HR in 2013, I’ve been a part of its growth and evolution, and it has been incredible to see first-hand what a growing company experiences and how a culture develops with each new addition to the team! As a solutions-focused and collaborative group, I love being able to learn and share experiences with each other, gaining a deeper and more well-rounded knowledge base of the profession. Our work allows us to support organizations that value and want to make a difference with their employees.

As a true generalist, I have extensive background in HR, including: recruitment and onboarding, project management, policy and procedure development, system administration, engagement, performance management, benefits, and compensation. As an analytical thinker, I enjoy taking an objective and unbiased approach to anything I do.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). I began my post-secondary education with the intention of having a blossoming career in Marketing, however, after attending the HR-related courses of the degree, realized HR was a much better fit for me, to be able to support and impact people daily in their work. With that pursuit in mind, I have been continuing to hone my skills in the profession and achieved my CPHR designation in 2012.

When not working, you can find me at one of the amazing local culinary or community events that Victoria has to offer, entertaining friends, or leading a healthy lifestyle through fitness classes and playing volleyball. My personal motto: I believe in trying everything at least once!
