Davina Manhas, CPHR
In her role as People and Culture Partner, Davina provides HR leadership, strategic advice and guidance to improve the people side of our clients’ organizations. She helps leaders shape strategic goals that will improve their organization’s functioning, and creates policy, documents and processes to streamline their human resources. Davina brings strength in medical and mental health leaves, and policy and legislation interpretation. She’s also skilled in handling grievances and complex performance-management issues, guiding and developing managers to build their own competencies in this area.
Known for her willingness to learn, Davina takes on any issue that comes up, thoroughly researching it to determine best practice. This lets her provide end-to-end service for clients who might be experiencing a range of issues. Honest and easy to talk to, Davina is curious and asks great questions to get at the root causes of workplace issues, earning people’s trust along the way.
Collaborative and insightful, Davina prioritizes understanding her clients’ needs so she can see the bigger picture, and provide the best solutions for their organization. She has experience working with private companies and not-for-profit organizations, with unionized and non-unionized clients alike.
What gets me out of bed every morning? Getting to know people, what drives them and how I can help them achieve their goals. I’m in my element when I’m helping transform organizations through HR projects and initiatives.
Davina first suspected HR might be her calling when, while working a customer service job, she realized she liked helping to solve people’s problems more than selling them things. She tackled her first HR role with a unionized not-for-profit organization and loved it, firehose and all! She moved quickly from being an HR assistant to an acting manager. Davina came to us in 2021 after several years in various HR roles where she acquired experience in recruitment and onboarding, training and development, occupational health and safety, performance management and employee relations. She holds a human resources management certificate, a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business and management, and CPHR designation.
Davina loves mystery and detective shows—anything where she can learn the truth about odd or anomalous events. In addition to reading and listening to podcasts, she also loves spending time outdoors, playing sports (baseball is a current favourite), and getting energized from the vibes at live events like concerts, comedy shows and football, hockey and baseball games. She volunteers her time and heart with the Independent Living Housing Society.
