Eugene Fung, MSc, CPHR, SHRM-CP

People and Culture Partner Eugene Fung supports our client organizations in their journey to transform their workplaces. Eugene provides recommendations across a wide spectrum of HR-related areas including employee relations, learning and development, talent management and recruitment.

Having served as an in-house generalist and specialist in different parts of the world, Eugene brings depth in working with leadership teams and their employees. He leads with genuine interest and care, seeking to understand what is most important for the client and why, and centering commonly held values to generate solutions that work for everyone.

Known for his ability to help people feel at ease, Eugene is also equipped with a fierce orientation to details. He makes sure tasks are understood and completed on time and on target, basing his recommendations on deep analysis and insight.

I find great satisfaction in helping to align people and culture objectives with organizational objectives. I’m all about helping to improve employees’ experiences in any organization I work with. And I’m in total flow when I’m thinking outside the box—and inside too—for creative and strategic solutions.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK from 11 years of age, Eugene has always worked with people, whether dressing up as a promotional penguin or helping customers buy the right hiking boots. He moved to Canada in 2018, concluding a multi-year, cross-planetary journey that bestowed the capacity to build connections with people from all different backgrounds. Eugene’s psychology background (BSc Psychology at Bangor University in Wales, followed by an MSc Work Psychology & Business at Aston University) positions him to better understand the human psyche, allowing him to develop tailored HR solutions that motivate—and stick. He obtained his CPHR in 2020 and his SHRM-CP in 2021. Eugene joined us in 2023 after many years of practicing HR in industries like visual effects for movies and commercials, recruitment consulting and medical equipment supply.

If not for HR, Eugene may have found his way into being an archaeologist or historian in North Africa, Arabia and Central Asia. In his off hours, he can be found feeding his lifelong passion for history, culture and vexillology (the study of flags); enjoying a wide variety of food; singing with the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir, and pedaling through the city streets on his vintage red bike.
