Continuous learning, solutions-focused collaboration, and authentic connection is what it’s all about! After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a BA in English and Ethics, I explored a few different careers, working in non-profit programming, in hospitality, in youth care work, and in landscape design. The learner in me loved acquiring and honing new skills in each of these roles, but none of these jobs felt like a forever choice.
Fast forward to 2013, where reflecting on the diversity of my professional experiences led me to my personal “Aha!” moment during a conversation with my mentor. I realized that my favourite part of all those jobs was the same – the people part. I was driven by the process of identifying and resolving the people-based pain points I had encountered in each industry I’d worked in. Helping support and develop aligned and mutually fulfilling employer-employee relationships has been an organic focus in each of my professional roles, so a career in HR was a natural fit.
I first joined the Engaged HR team in 2015, after completing an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management. Since then, I have been lucky to enjoy constant opportunities to collaborate with and learn from incredible colleagues, employers, and community leaders while always looking for creative ways to expand my HR toolbox.
After an fantastic year spent “on hiatus” expanding my professional and personal toolbox further through travel and formal facilitation and coaching studies, I returned to the Engaged HR team in 2020. I’m thrilled to be able to bring this new learning to my work as Engagement Associate and as course facilitator for topics such as the Art of Understanding Legislation in the Art of HR series.
When I’m not working, I can be found practicing yoga, swimming, meditating, running, gardening, or spending time with my 13 nieces and nephews.
