Megan Yeo

People and Culture Advisor

Megan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of British Columbia and is currently working toward her CPHR designation. She has been working in human resources since 2022 and brings a thoughtful, people-centred approach to everything she does.

Megan is especially passionate about employee engagement and workplace satisfaction. She loves partnering with teams to strengthen onboarding experiences, enhance training and development programs, launch creative engagement initiatives, and coach leaders to bring out the best in their people. For Megan, meaningful work starts with creating environments where individuals feel supported and motivated to contribute.

Megan began her career in a specialized healthcare organization focused on sleep health, where she naturally gravitated toward HR when she began supporting recruitment and training initiatives. As the organization grew, so did her responsibilities, and she soon found herself immersed in day-to-day HR functions before stepping into a Human Resources Generalist role. Joining Engaged was a deliberate decision to challenge herself, expanding beyond one industry and gaining exposure to diverse sectors, teams, and organizational cultures to further develop her skill set.

Megan always knew she wanted a career centred on helping others. As a child, she imagined that might mean becoming a doctor. Over time, through roles in retail, food service, housing, and healthcare, she discovered the profound impact that genuine human connection can have in the workplace. Considering how much of our lives are spent at work, she feels privileged to help shape inclusive, supportive, and engaging environments where people can thrive.

She believes work plays a powerful role in the human experience. The learning that happens on the job—both technical and interpersonal—often surpasses what can be gained in a classroom. While “work is just work” for some, Megan sees it as an opportunity for growth, challenge, and self-discovery. The skills developed at work frequently extend far beyond the office and shape how we navigate everyday life.

If she had to offer five words of advice to employers, they would be: “Being honest is being kind.” Megan firmly believes that transparency and kindness can—and should—coexist.

Outside of work, you’re likely to find her looking up dog training tips on Reddit or watching YouTube videos to help Pia, her recently adopted pup, become the best dog she can be.

And as for the most surprising moments in HR? Megan has seen her fair share—from candidates listing their grandmother as a professional reference, to executive applicants arriving in graphic T-shirts, to cover letters that boldly declare, “Most cover letters sound the same these days, so if you give me a chance, I’ll prove I’m different.” One thing she knows for certain: people never fail to surprise her—and that’s part of what makes HR so interesting.
