Flo Follero-Pugh, MEd

Flo is a key trainer at Engaged, tailoring custom learning solutions for our clients and facilitating workshops for The Art of HR. She specializes in teaching relationship skills like communicating clearly, having difficult conversations, understanding generational dynamics and creating respectful workplaces. She views work as an avenue through which we can grow and overcome challenges, becoming the best possible versions of ourselves.

Renowned for the energy she brings to her workshops, Flo engages her learners with humour and interactivity. She has worked with clients in government, business and not-for-profit, teaching everyone from front-line workers to senior managers how to resolve conflict and build stronger teams. Flo is in flow when she’s teaching workshops that help people recognize their own strengths and those of their colleagues, so they can support each other to do their best work.

Flo models and leads with empathy, always seeking to capture a complete understanding of other people’s realities and experiences. Making empathy visible to clients in this way helps them take it up for themselves and bring it back to their workplaces. Flo also models and teaches appreciation as a similarly powerful tool for improving relational dynamics. Passionate about supporting people to grow, Flo is a fierce believer that everyone has the capacity to change regardless of age, background or experience.

In all of my workshops, I highlight the value of being intentional in the words and actions we use in the workplace and in life in general—to build trust between individuals and teams, and to strengthen connectedness. Intentionality helps us all to do our best work.

After obtaining her BA in psychology and her MEd in counselling psychology, Flo began her career in post-secondary and not-for-profit settings, with a focus on employment and career counselling. She has run her own private counselling practice and has taught a wide variety of workshops on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Flo began working as a contractor with us in 2017, then joined on as a full-time employee in 2020.

In her personal time, Flo loves exploring psychometric and personality assessments, and continually adds to her bank of career-based learning tools. She studies organizational practice in journals like Harvard Business Review, and learns from other consulting groups like Korn Ferry. Flo loves spending time with her family, watching movie musicals and singing—she’s in a show choir and two bands!
