Taylor Acton, CPHR

As Director of HR Services, Taylor supports a team of Engaged professionals to grow and develop as they provide full-spectrum HR services to our clients. She also oversees the delivery of our managed HR services to ensure we’re bringing our characteristically high-quality care to every engagement. In addition, Taylor supports clients on the consulting side with their strategic HR planning and projects, capably advising them as they navigate complex HR challenges.

As an empathetic listener, Taylor astutely reads between the lines and asks the right questions to get at the core of an issue, then moves to ideating on creative and strategic solutions. She’s skilled at simplifying complex situations for clients and laying out options so they can choose the best move. With her keen ability to see the big picture, Taylor can quickly identify gaps and plan a strategic way forward. She has served a variety of our clients over the years, spanning small- to large-sized not-for-profit and private organizations across multiple sectors. She brings bench strength in complicated leave management and accommodation situations, terminations, workplace culture and employee engagement issues.

Taylor’s approach is calm and nonjudgmental, generating a sense of safety and inclusivity. Her warmth and humour enable her to connect easily with people from all different backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels cared for and supported. Reliable and genuine, Taylor builds trusting relationships with her clients and team members alike.

Taylor joined the Engaged team in 2020, after receiving her CPHR credentials. She holds a BA (hons) from the University of Victoria, a human resources management certificate from Simon Fraser University, and serves on Volunteer Victoria’s board of directors, where she chairs the HR committee.

Taylor has always received a sense of fulfillment through helping others. She had her first glimmering that HR might be the perfect path back in 2010, in her first professional office job. When she was invited to support some HR tasks, she discovered she loved assisting staff on the people side of the business. Taylor has more hobbies than she has free time for, however she prioritizes time spent outdoors hiking, camping, backpacking or biking. She also loves travelling and spending time with friends and family. And of course…hanging with her dog Gilbert.
