Kristen Slade, CPHR
Providing comprehensive full-service HR support, People and Culture Partner Kristen Slade creates, manages and administers programs and services for a diversity of our clients here at Engaged. Whether at the managerial, directorial or organizational level, Kristen supports leaders in all their HR needs, and also helps employees untangle questions related to their employment and benefits.
Passionate about people, organizations, and how the two connect, Kristen finds strong alignment with her why in the HR profession. She loves diving deep into learning about each business she’s working with, figuring out how its people fit together and how she can be of service. A relationship-builder first and foremost, Kristen gets to know people personally so she can understand what they need and how they like to receive feedback and support. She keeps connectedness top-of-mind in today’s remote-work environment, and dedicates a lot of time to getting to know both colleagues and clients.
An out-of-the-box thinker, Kristen embraces difficult and diverse challenges and doesn’t shy away from walking employers through complex issues. Her breadth of experience spans government, unionized and private organizations ranging up to 1000 people, and includes working with First Nations organizations both in BC and in the Canadian North.
I am solution oriented, which is one of Engaged’s core values. I love that we are a team that can add value to our clients in every interaction. We don’t just give an answer; we provide multiple solutions and suggestions with all of the considerations needed to make the best decision for you.
Kristen joined Engaged in 2022, having honed her skills in HR and development positions in retail and power corporations, as well as with the Cowichan Tribes. From her first human resources course at Camosun College, Kristen knew she wanted to work with people to build their careers and help them find flow. Certified as a trainer and in workplace investigations, Kristen also holds a business degree and her CPHR designation.
Supportive and open-minded by nature, Kristen brings a collaborative approach and a determination to work problems through to their optimal solution. She spends her spare time adventuring with her husband and two young boys, exploring the outdoors in Victoria and the Cowichan Valley. A lover of strategy board games, Kristen also enjoys hosting friends for theme dinners. Think Paris murder mystery, or an around-the-world potluck!
